The Story Behind Nine Point Labs
Nine Point Labs isn't just a company or a portfolio site. It's my build-in-public workshop — a place where experiments, ideas, and practical projects come to life. It's where technology, family, service, and faith all meet in one honest, sometimes messy, always hopeful corner of the internet.
Meet Tim
Hey there, I'm Tim Apple. Combat veteran, semi-retired technologist, and part-time hero at an MSP. The rest of my days? Full-on dad mode. Raising the kiddos side-by-side with my amazing wife is the best job I've ever had.
When I'm not glued to a monitor geeking out over code or Linux configs, you'll usually find me on the mat at Tae Kwon Do with my daughters. I started this martial arts journey a little later in life, and let me tell you — it's been equal parts pure joy and "why did I think this was a good idea for my tendons?" But every minute has been worth it.
Why "Nine Point"?
The name comes from something deeper than a clever domain. I'm a member of the Baha'i Faith, and in our tradition the number nine holds special meaning. It's the highest single-digit number and a powerful symbol of completeness, perfection, and — most importantly — the unity of all humanity.
That spirit of unity is the real heartbeat of Nine Point Labs. We bring useful ideas together, build with genuine optimism, and try to leave every person and project better off than we found them. It's not about flashy tech for tech's sake. It's about building things that actually help.
The Optimism That Keeps Me Going
Two big influences in my life right now are Ted Lasso and Andy Grammer. Both remind me daily that optimism can be practical, kindness can be strong as steel, and real grit doesn't need a side of cynicism to get the job done.
In a world that sometimes feels pretty heavy, those reminders matter more than ever.
Let's Build Something Good Together
If any of this resonates — the faith angle, the family-first approach, the love of solid open-source tools, or just the stubborn belief that we can make useful things with good people — I'd love to hear from you.
Drop me a line at hello@ninepointlabs.com. We're always up for thoughtful conversation and building things that matter.
Thanks for stopping by the workshop.
— Tim
